Enyinnaya Abaribe, the Abia South senator, has left the African Democratic Congress for the Labour Party. Emenike Iroegbu, the Labour Party's spokesperson in Abia State, confirmed the lawmaker's formal entry into the party.

This move marks another chapter in Abaribe's pattern of party-hopping throughout his political career. He'd only joined the ADC in December after exiting the All Progressives Grand Alliance, where he won his 2023 reelection.

His time with the ADC lasted mere months before this latest shift. Abaribe is currently in his fifth term as Abia South's senator.

As of press time, the senator hadn't released any personal statement about the defection. Whether he'll address the move publicly remains unclear.
