Aba Geometric Power Project Hastily Commissioned, Claims APGA Chieftain

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and former governorship aspirant in Abia State, Chikwe Udensi, has accused the present administration of hastily commissioning the Aba Geometric Power Project just to gain credits.

Udensi made this claim during a current affairs program on Wednesday, stating that the project was not yet ready for use and the commissioning was a mere publicity stunt.

Udensi, who was featured on “Open Parliament,” a current affairs program monitored by Daily Post from Umuahia, the Abia capital, said that he was in touch with Aba residents, and their feedback indicated that there is no power let alone uninterrupted.

He further pointed out that the Ajaokuta Steel Company and the commissioning of the Dangote Refinery were similarly rushed, even when they were not fully operational.

The APGA Chieftain argued that the state government should have waited a while and put the project into full use before commissioning it.

A representative of the Geometric Power Project had earlier called on Aba residents to be patient as efforts are being put in place to ensure that the project comes into full use.

Udensi commended the government of former governors, including Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji, and Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, for their support in ensuring that the project is actualized.

He also criticized the claim made by the Chairman of Geometric Power, Professor Barth Nnaji, that he never received funding from the Abia State government.

Udensi stated that this claim is false and that the government of immediate past Governor Okezie Ikpeazu had, in fact, significantly funded the project.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the state government will respond to these claims and whether the project will be fully operational in the near future.
