PDP LG primary election yet to hold in Burutu – Clark

Following a report in some national dailies that some aspirants were angry over an alleged primary election in Burutu, the Director General of Arede Edeimene Campaign Organization in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state, Mr. Grade-One Clark, refuted yesterday that Local Government Council primary elections are yet to hold in Burutu.

Mr. Clark, who made this known in a statement, said the news of the endorsement of the governor’s favoured chairmanship aspirant as candidate of the party in the forthcoming local government election in the State is causing tension in Burutu as the said choice candidate of the governor is not the choice of the Burutu people.

He added that as a core supporter of Mr. Arede Edeimene, Burutu Council chairmanship aspirant, “I appeal to the State PDP Chairman, Barr. Kingsley Esiso to ensure that a transparent PDP primary is held for all aspirants to be giving a level playing ground, so that the people can elect the candidate of their choice.”

He noted that it is only a transparent PDP primary that can guarantee victory for the party in 2019 and not imposition, adding that all the ongoing protests by party faithful across the local government area will only come to an end when a transparent primary election is carried out for all the chairmanship aspirants.

He said “if a transparent primary is not done, the next thing will be massive defection of party members to other parties they felt that practices internal democracy and that may spelt doom for the PDP in 2019 in Burutu Local Government Area.”
