Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that he will focus on the education and health sectors during his second year in office.
The Governor also stated that he will continue to deliver quality projects despite the paucity of funds bedeviling the state.
Addressing journalists after inspecting the Igwuruta-Chokocho road, Alcon road in Woji and the second bridge on Woji-Akpajo road, Governor Wike said that the state will witness several projects in the education and health sectors.
He said: “We will never use paucity of funds as an excuse not to perform. We will continue to seek funds to fulfill our pledges to the people of the state.
In our second year in office, we shall focus more on the health and education sectors. Several projects will be executed across the state in these two sectors.
We shall also focus on the Agricultural sector. However, we shall not stop constructing roads to boost the economy of the State.”
Commenting on the Igwuruta-Chokocho road, the governor said that the state expects a refund from the Federal Government after its completion because it is a federal road.
Speaking further, he said with the pace of work on the Woji-Akpajo bridge, it will be completed in September to ease traffic on the Old Aba road in Port Harcourt.
He said: “We are not carried away by what we achieved in our first year. We shall continue to work for the people of Rivers State. That is why we were voted by the people”.
He was accompanied on the project inspection by Works Commissioner, Bathuel Iheanyichukwu and Professor Emenike Adibe, an academic based in the United States of America.
