Paucity of funds will not be an excuse not to perform- Gov Wike

The Governor also stated that he will continue to deliver quality projects despite the paucity of funds bedeviling the state.

Addressing journalists  after inspecting the Igwuruta-Chokocho road, Alcon road in Woji  and the  second bridge on Woji-Akpajo road, Governor Wike  said  that  the  state will witness several projects in the education  and health  sectors.

He said: “We will never use paucity of funds as an excuse not to perform.  We will continue to seek funds to fulfill our pledges to the people of the state.

In our second year in office, we shall focus more on the health and education sectors.  Several projects will be executed across the state in these two sectors.

We shall also focus on the Agricultural sector.  However, we shall not stop constructing roads to boost the economy of the State.”

Commenting on the  Igwuruta-Chokocho road,  the  governor  said that  the  state expects a refund from the Federal Government after its completion  because  it is a federal road.

Speaking further,  he said with the  pace of work  on the Woji-Akpajo bridge, it will  be  completed in September to ease traffic  on the  Old Aba  road in Port Harcourt.

He said: “We are not carried away by what we achieved in our first year. We shall continue to work for the people of Rivers State.  That is why we were voted by the people”.

He was accompanied on the project inspection by Works Commissioner, Bathuel  Iheanyichukwu and Professor Emenike Adibe, an academic based in the United States of America.
