NLC Political Commission Calls for Abure’s Resignation from Labour Party

The NLC Political Commission, the institutional trustees of the Labour Party, has demanded the immediate resignation of Mr. Julius Abure, the party’s National Chairman, for violating a court judgement and an INEC supervised terms of settlement that mandate an all-inclusive National Convention of the Labour Party.

In a recent press release, the NLC Political Commission emphasized the need for Abure to step down due to his lack of respect for court judgements, agreements, and contempt for his elders in the labour movement.

The Commission reminded Abure of a 20th March 2018 judgement by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, which pronounced that the Labour Party is owned by the Nigeria Labour Congress and an all-inclusive National Convention should be held to address the issues within the party.

Despite the legal backing and historical facts supporting their demand, Abure has continued to resist the call for his resignation.

The NLC Political Commission maintains that the Labour Party must be fully recovered and repositioned as a political vehicle for the benefit of sincere and patriotic politicians who are committed to making genuine impact in the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

The Commission has called on all workers, leaders, and members of the Labour Party to continue to openly identify with this collective strive to recover, reconstruct, and reposition the Labour Party as the ideologically primed political vehicle for the emancipation of Nigerian workers and people from the terrible governance of the past four decades.
