NSA cautions against violence, urges security agencies to follow ethics

As Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo states gear up for the off-cycle elections today, the NSA, Nuhu Ribadu, has given them the assurance of security readiness.

He also warned political actors to shun violence and urged security agencies to uphold professional ethics during the exercise.

According to a statement by Zakari U. Mijinyawa, the Head of Strategic Communication in the ONSA, Ribadu said that security agencies have made enough preparations to ensure safe, secure, and transparent elections, following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The NSA, which co-chairs the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, advised all security, intelligence, and law enforcement officers deployed for election security duties to behave honourably, adding that a monitoring system has been set up with monitors sent to the field to gather any evidence of violence and irregularities.

“The NSA vows that anyone who is found to have disrupted the conduct of elections or abused his authority will face severe consequences. He encourages voters in the three states to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise, assuring them of adequate protection.
