Call Wike to Order Now Before Rivers Burns, Warns Wabara to Tinubu

Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to call the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to order before the political crisis in Rivers State escalates further.
This call comes in the wake of a series of events that have threatened the stability of the state, including calls for Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s impeachment and a mass exodus of PDP members in Abia State.
Wabara’s appeal is rooted in his concern that Nigeria might not survive any instability in Rivers State, given its significant economic importance to the country.
He has called on President Tinubu to intervene and ensure that Wike allows his successor to discharge his constitutional roles without undue influence.
The Senator emphasized the need for all involved in the political brouhaha in Rivers to give peace a chance, warning that history will not be kind to those who attempt to forcefully remove a democratically-elected Governor or President from office.
The political crisis in Rivers State has been brewing for some time, with pro-Wike lawmakers and the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) calling for the impeachment of Governor Fubara.
This has prompted a response from the PDP, urging its members not to panic over the mass exodus of party chieftains in Abia State.
The PDP BoT Chairman has blamed the impunity of the last PDP-led administration in the state for the current situation, noting that some chieftains who are leaving the party are doing so for self-protection while others join the bandwagon without any deep thought of their action.
Senator Nwaka, a former Chairman of PDP in Abia State, has also weighed in on the issue, blaming the collapse of PDP in the state on the weakness of the party leaderships that emerged after him.
He criticized his successors for surrendering their authority to government officials as a tool of oppression against perceived opponents within the party, contributing to the current state of affairs.
As the political landscape in Rivers State remains volatile, the call by Senator Adolphus Wabara for President Tinubu to intervene and restore order in the state highlights the need for political stability and the rule of law.
It remains to be seen whether President Tinubu will heed this call and how the situation in Rivers State will unfold in the coming days.
