The holy ghost is key to the lives, growth of Christians – Apostle Igiehon 

The importance of the holy ghost can not be overemphasized in the lives of Christians and the growth of today’s church.

According to the Holy Bible, when Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried and rose again on the third day as he said, he ascended into heaven with a promise to send a comforter in the person of the holy spirit to the disciples whom he left behind.

Speaking to Advocate newspaper, the Senior Pastor of Banner of Solution Christian Assembly International, Benin, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Igiehon said the descent of the holy spirit coincided with the Jewish festival called Pentecost hence the name Pentecost Day was adopted by Christians to commemorate that day. Apostle Dr. Igiehon also pointed out that that very day marked the birth of the church because the disciples received the power of the holy spirit, became very bold and began to speak in different languages where thousands of people were converted to Christ that day.

” Jesus told his disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they are empowered. This coincided with the Jewish festival called Pentecost where they serve the god of the sun. Jesus haven resurrected met with his apostles in Galilee. And commanded them to tarry in Jerusalem. So while at the upper room the holy spirit came upon them like the rush of a mighty wind and they began to speak in diverse tongues. Thousands of people were converted that day”.

Corroborating the above, the Senior Pastor of the New Paradise Glorious Church, Benin, Pastor Sam Sonwu said that after the ascension of Jesus Christ the disciples were afraid and hence went into hiding. He noted that it was when they were in the upper room that the holy spirit came upon them and they began to speak in different tongues. Pastor Sonwu pointed out that the people around who were observing their festival called Pentecost in Jewish thought they were drunk but were amazed because they began to hear the disciples speaking their languages. And the bible recorded that many were healed and converted to Christ on that day.

Pastor Ehilas Osezua of the Brighter Hope Life Ministry, Benin stated strongly that the Christians of today need the impartation of the holy spirit to do the work of God because he said that it shall come to pass that I will pure out my spirit upon flesh ( men and women) and they shall prophesy, dream dreams and see visions.

Apostle Dr. Igiehon posited that ” The disciples haven experienced the supernatural move of God became bold and preached the word of God fearlessly, they healed the sick and many people now said of a truth this people are serving God. We should tarry the way the disciples did in order to be filled with the spirit of God. When you have the flow of the spirit in you it results in the manifestation of the healing power of God. You can set the captive free.

Every believer should allow the spirit of God to be pured upon them from on high.

For according to John 14:26 of the Holy Bible, Christians do not have to search themselves for ways of doing things but through the holy ghost who will teach them all things.

According to Pastor Osezua, ” when we experience the out Puring of the spirit of God we become his witness on Earth and makes us qualified representative of Jesus Christ on Earth. This also help us to work in the spirit and serve God in the spirit because he’s spirit. The holy ghost is a divine empowerment to do what Jesus Christ was doing while he was on earth.
