The Chairman, Onose TBEA Energy Limited, Rtd. Gen. Alexander O. Ogomudia and the Managing Director, Jim Elueni has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari on his unrelenting efforts to increase power generation in the country.
Ogomudia who gave this commendation Thursday in Ekrokpe/Ekrojegbe communities of Ughelli South local government area of Delta State , said he appreciates the efforts of Buhari’s administration to grow electricity generation capacity to 7000MW from the 3000MW he met in 2015.
He said it is with joy he announced to the public the company’s plans to contribute an additional 2000MW to the president’s outstanding achievements beginning with this 400MW to further boost electricity generation in this part of the country.
Speaking further, Ogomudia said, “In the year 2016 Onose Nigeria Limited an Energy Company, duly registered sort out a very international company with reputable credentials to go into partnership with, so as to identify with your aspiration in the energy sector.
“Fortunately, we find TBEA Company Limited, that manufactures high quality electrical equipment with over $20bn as annual turnover and staff strength of over sixty-thousand people.
“We agreed with TBEA that they should designed the plant, source the equipment, finance, build the plant and operate it as the technical partner in an equity participation arrangement with Onose Nigeria ltd as the minority partner whose role is to secure the land, permits, approval, license and enabling environment for the project.
Ogomudia while speaking also commended the hosts communities, (Ekrokpe and Ekrejegbe Communities) for their cooperation and said that henceforth, he has become of them in the communities by the virtue of their operation in the area.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of the company, Barr. Jim Elueni said the company is keying into the vision of stable electric power supply to as many Nigerians, adding that the ground breaking is one of the bold step they have taken as a result of unbreakable assurance TBEA has in Onose Nigeria Limited.
Elueni said the solid, unshakable confidence TBEA has in Onose Energy Company has given them the ability to create the enabling environment for TBEA to come and invest in Nigeria , saying that the project will be completed within eighteen months.
Earlier, President Buhari while speaking said when he came into power in 2015, most power generating plants in the country were running at low capacity, adding that out of 9000MW capacity only 3.5MW was being produced with frequent instability associated with the national grid.
President Buhari who was represented by the Delta State Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa commended the host communities for providing the land for the company, and said that it is a great hope that when the project has started in the next eighteen months Delta State would become a hub of power generation in the country.
While calling on the communities to support and provide enabling environment for the company to operate, he charged Onose TBEA Energy Ltd. to ensure it engages the youths and other indigenes of the communities during their operations for cordial relationship with their host communities.
He said power generation is capital intensive project, and Onose TBEA Energy limited has set aside about $480 million for this first phase of 400MW and called for many more similar projects in this country.
