The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man for robbing residents using a stainless lighter fashioned to look like a pistol. Officers from the Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended him on July 5, 2026, following intelligence reports.
The suspect, a native of Obinolu Ngodo Isiochi, targeted unsuspecting members of the public, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, the command's spokesperson, said on Saturday. He wielded the lighter-turned-fake-gun to frighten victims and steal their belongings.
Police recovered related items from him during the arrest, according to the statement. The command urged residents to report security threats to their nearest police station or call the emergency lines.
