Former Deputy Senate President and 2023 Delta APC governorship candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has formally signalled his return to the Senate race, urging supporters across Delta Central to mobilise ahead of the APC primaries while also drumming support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing party faithful and supporters at the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Omo-Agege called on APC members to return to their wards and prepare to vote for credible aspirants during the party primaries, declaring that he had once again offered himself for service to represent Delta Central Senatorial District.
The former lawmaker stated that his decision to seek a return to the Senate was driven by his record of performance and commitment to the development of Urhobo land and Delta State as a whole. He urged party members to remain united behind the APC and President Tinubu's e Renewed Hope agenbu.
“Primaries are around the corner. Go back to your various wards, prepare yourselves and decide who you will vote for to represent you in the Senate in 2027,” he told supporters.
Omo-Agege used the gathering to reel out what he described as his legacy projects while representing Delta Central in the 8th and 9th Senates, citing the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, the Nigerian Defence Space School, and the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale.
He particularly highlighted the ongoing Oil and Gas Industrial Park in Salubi, Ughelli North Local Government Area, describing it as a transformational project capable of changing the economic fortunes of the Urhobo nation and Delta State.
According to him, the industrial park would create massive employment opportunities for youths and boost electricity supply across Orogun, Abraka and Eku communities when completed.
“We stand today in one of the projects God used me to bring to the Urhobo nation, the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun. We established it and built it. I also leveraged my position to attract the Nigerian Defence Space School and the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Kwale,” he said.
He added that the scale and financial commitment of the Oil and Gas Industrial Park surpassed the combined investments in the tertiary institutions he facilitated, noting that the project would serve as a major industrial hub for Delta Central and beyond.
Omo-Agege further assured supporters that he would continue to pursue projects and policies that promote development, economic growth and opportunities for the people if returned to the Senate in 2027.
