The organization has begun with the inauguration of ward canvassers across the eight local government areas that make up the district with the aim of achieving effective grassroots mobilisation to bring to fruition the 2019 Delta Central Senatorial ambition of Chief Ighoyota Amori.

Chief Austin Atiti one of the coordinators for the ‘2019 Amori For Senate project’, in Sapele, said the canvassers who were carefully selected from the eleven wards in the council area are persons of proven track records in political mobilisation in the area.

According to him, “Amori is a Sapele boy by all standards and he needs no introduction. Virtually all households in Sapele know the name Amori. We have done it before and I can assure you that as far as Sapele is concern Amori has no problem.”

Director-General of the campaign organisation for the ‘2019 Amori for Senate,’ Chief Moses Odibo, while inaugurating the Sapele ward canvassers tasked them to serve in the area to be up and doing as the 2019 elections will be grassroots driven.

Chief Odibo urged them to live up to expectation as recommended by their leaders.

According to him; “The assignment your leaders at the ward level have recommended you for is for the party primaries and the general elections in 2019. It is an assignment that requires a lot of hard work, and it is important that you are firm and unwavering in carrying out the assignment.”

The 2019 Amori For Senate consultation team led by the DG, Chief Odibo thereafter went to consult some political leaders and stakeholders in Sapele Local Government Area.

At the house of the leader of PDP ward 6 and 8 Sapele, Prince Joseph Atseyinku, he assured the delegation of his commitment to work for the realization of the 2019 senatorial ambition of Chief Ighoto Amori, as he did in 2015.

He recalled the exemplary leadership style, empowerment programmes, and other numerous contributions made by Chief Amori to the development of Delta State while he was Commissioner and Political Adviser in the different administrations in the State, and expressed optimism that Chief Amori will excel in the Senate.

“We have consulted among ourselves and have resolved to work for Chief Ighoyota Amori. We know Amori is a good man just that some persons he has empowered have failed to carry others along at the grassroots. We would deliver Sapele ward 6 and 8 for Amori,” he said.

On his part, former Sapele Council Chairman, Mr Godwin Atose, who spoke in the same vein when the consultation team visited him, expressed his deep commitment to ensuring that Chief Amori returns to the Senate in 2019.

Mr. Atose particularly said that Chief Amori is among the few personalities in Urhobo land that deserves the support of the Urhobo people to go higher politically for the general interest of the Urhobo nation.

The former Sapele Council boss said; “We are poised to reclaim the mandate that was stolen from you. Presently, Amori is the best material to fly the PDP flag for the 2019 Delta Central Senate seat.”

The former Commissioner in the defunct Bendel State, Chief Margaret Unukegwo said the political family headed by former Governor James Ibori will decide who gets to the Senate.

Chief Unukegwo who added that Chief Amori is a principal member of the political family, expressed the hope that the family will not forget him in considering who should go to the Senate in 2019.

“The political family headed by Chief James Ibori; the family will decide at the end of the day who gets to the Senate. The family must call together elders, leaders, aspirants and non-aspirants and we shall agree on whom to go to the Senate.”

“You (Amori) have contributed immensely towards building up the family and holding forth while the leader (Ibori) was away. I believe that when it is time to take the decision, that God will direct those concerns that it is you Odidimadi,” she said.
