19 Battalion CO; promises to fight oil bunkering, pipeline vandalism

The new Commanding Officer, Nigerian Army, 19 Battalion Koko, Lt. Col. Anthony Ozemhoya has promised to reinvigorate security architecture within the battalion to fight all forms of criminality in his command.

Lt. Col. Ozemhoya stated this while briefing members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Sapele Correspondent Chapel, during their visit to his office in Koko, the Head Quarters of Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State.

He posted that under his watch, he would fight oil bunkering, pipeline vanders, kidnappers, cultism and any criminal activities that is capable of disturbing the peace and progress of country.

He stated further that he will improve on the successes recorded by his predecessors, noting that, he will ensure that sanity, moral discipline and a friendly operational atmosphere is maintained.

While urging the people in his area of operations to be good citizens by supporting security agencies in the task securing lives and property, added that security is everybody’s business.

The Commanding Officer also explained that as parts of his plans to improve on security and educate the youths of the area on right value, the command, will be organizing one-week sanitization programme and seminar to mark this year’s Independent Day Celebration.

According to him; “I want to contribute my quota to nation building through the teaching of morals education, my focus touch the lives of the koko youths through the community leaders.”

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the NUJ, Sapele Correspondent Chapel, Comrade Andrew Owhobetehe assured the new CO, that the NUJ will support the effort of the Army to raid the area of crime.

He noted that the importance of the media in informing citizens’ of the activities of the Army cannot be over emphasized, as there is need for a good working relationship between the command and the media.
