Niger Delta Development: Emerhor calls for synergy among stakeholders

He stated this at the Initiative for Peace, Governance and Development of the South South (Niger Delta) Region  convened by the Honorable Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Ameachi  to discussed critical issues affecting the region.

Emerhor noting that  institutions such as the- State Governments, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, NDDC, Presidential Amnesty Office, Organized Private Sector, and Communities are working differently without  a common vision, thereby slowing down the rate of development in Niger Delta.

While advocating for coordinated and progressive strategies to drive development in the region by setting out reserve funds; he further explained that it is through a well articulated partnership that the development process of the region can be achieved.

On the issue of youth unemployment, Olorogun Emerhor stressed that it was important to have the statistics of youths in the region with a view to developing a sustainable framework that address the challenges of unemployment and insecurity.

The initiative which had in attendance leaders, traditional rulers and stakeholders from the region, amongst whom are Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, former governors of Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers, Obong Victor Attah and Mr. Donald Duke, His Eminence, Edmund Dakouru (Amanayabo of Nembe); Hon. Ossai N. Ossai, Hon. Johnson Agbonayinma, Dan Etete.

Others, in attendance were Acting Managing Director of the NDDC, Mrs. Ibim Seminaries;  Distinguished Senator Ndoma Egba, Chairman-designate  (NDDC), Mr. Nsima Nkere, (MD-designate NDDC); Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, Publisher (Thisday); Senator Ewa Hewshaw; Senator Florence Ita-Giwa; Hon. Timi Alaibe; Pastor P. Z. Aginighan;  Professors Turner Isoun; Chief Frank Kokori; Chief Tuesday Onoge; Obong Umana Umana, Barr. Justin Rewane amongst other stakeholders.
