Senator Kabiru Marafa has clinched the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship ticket for Zamfara State in 2027. Party officials reached the decision through consensus at a meeting in Gusau.
Aminu Jelani, chairman of the party's electoral committee, made the formal announcement. Marafa responded by expressing gratitude to NDC members for backing his candidacy.
He vowed to fight corruption if voters elect him governor. Marafa blamed mismanagement for Zamfara's slow development over the years.
The former senator promised prudent use of public resources and better living standards for residents. He said his administration would create equal opportunities across the state.
Marafa recently defected to the NDC from the ADC. Party leader Seriake Dickson confirmed the move weeks earlier.
According to party officials, Marafa committed to strengthening the NDC in Zamfara. He'll lead the party's activities in the state heading into the election.
