Yusuf vs. Ganduje: Kano Governor Slams Predecessor’s Tenure, Charges Him with Bribery

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has accused his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, of using diversionary tactics to cover up for his failure in governance.

Ganduje, the current National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had earlier accused Yusuf of being unable to deliver on his mandate in the state.

The heated exchange between the two leaders comes after the Kano State Government decided to file criminal charges against Ganduje for alleged bribery amounting to $413,000 and N1.38 billion.

In response, Yusuf’s administration released a statement highlighting Ganduje’s eight-year tenure as being marred by corruption, diversion of public funds, and the sale of government properties.

Yusuf’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated that the current administration’s eight months in office have significantly outweighed Ganduje’s eight years of what they consider political misrepresentation and maladministration.

Yusuf’s administration has also emphasized its commitment to making anyone found guilty of corruption face the full consequences of their actions.

Furthermore, Yusuf has requested the release of the forensic investigation conducted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the ‘Gandollar saga’ in 2018 for public scrutiny.

This move is seen as an attempt to further expose the alleged corrupt practices of Ganduje’s administration.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how this political rivalry will impact the governance of Kano State and the overall perception of the APC’s leadership.
