TracTrac Mechanisation Service Ltd unveiled its Young People in Mechanisation program on Monday in Abuja. The initiative aims to tackle Nigeria's shortage of skilled technicians in the agricultural sector.

Godson Ohuruogu, the company's Chief Executive Officer, made the announcement at a news conference. He described YPiM as Nigeria's first youth-focused mechanisation movement.

The program targets Nigerians aged 18 to 35. It equips them with practical skills, mentorship, and opportunities in mechanisation, entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and advocacy.

"Young people should not just observe the future of agriculture," Ohuruogu told reporters. "They should lead it."

According to him, the initiative helps participants build sustainable livelihoods. It also contributes to agricultural transformation and food security across the country.

TracTrac has deployed over 800 tractors across multiple states since its inception. The company has impacted more than 500,000 farmers in the process.

It currently supports a network of over 6,000 Mechanisation Service Providers. Ohuruogu said the company is building one of Nigeria's most extensive mechanisation networks.

TracTrac Plus is the company's flagship digital platform. It connects farmers directly with service providers in real time.

The platform also supports asset tracking and farm mapping. Over 5,000 apps have been installed through the system.

More than 2,000 mechanisation service engagements have been facilitated via TracTrac Plus. Ohuruogu noted this demonstrates the platform's effectiveness.

Four core pillars guide TracTrac's operations: Accessibility, Availability, Affordability, and Capacity. These ensure mechanisation services reach farmers when and where they need them most.

"Tractors should be within reach of every farmer, not a privilege for a few," the CEO said. He stressed that technology and strategic partnerships make this possible.

TracTrac partnered with government on Nigeria's draft National Agricultural Mechanisation Policy. Ohuruogu described NAMP as a landmark framework for the sector.

It charts a five-year course built on sustainability, inclusivity, and innovation. Sustainable land development is a key priority under the policy.

NAMP also promotes appropriate technologies and private-sector investment. Robust financing mechanisms and human capital development feature prominently.

Climate-smart and digital agriculture are central to the policy approach. Ohuruogu said this positions Nigeria's mechanisation drive as both resilient and future-proof.

TracTrac MSL is a Nigerian-led technology company transforming agriculture. It connects mechanisation service providers, farmers, and tractor owners through its ecosystem.
