Wike Warns Against Sabotage of President Tinubu’s Government as School Rehabilitation Projects Begin

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning against any attempt to sabotage President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.

This caution comes as the administration initiates school rehabilitation projects across the six area councils of the FCT.

During the flag-off ceremony of the rehabilitation of 19 public schools in the territory, Wike emphasized that the current government is not only focused on providing access to education but also on ensuring quality education through the provision of a conducive teaching and learning environment for all children.

The funding for the rehabilitation project is sourced from the 2023 Supplementary Budget, with an additional 20 schools set to benefit from the initiative through the “whole-school rehabilitation approach” in the 2024 budget.

In January 2024, the FCT Administration announced its commitment of N13.1 billion to the renovation and rehabilitation of 40 schools, using the accelerated whole-school rehabilitation approach.

This approach aims to rehabilitate entire school infrastructure and facilities, including toilets, hostels, dining areas, and water provision, as well as providing furniture.

Wike assured contractors that they would not be owed, as he had made sure their mobilization funds were sent to the bank before leaving office.

He also warned the treasury against any attempt to sabotage the efforts of the current government led by President Tinubu.

As the rehabilitation projects commence, the focus is on improving the quality of education in the FCT and ensuring that all children have access to a conducive learning environment.

The success of these initiatives will be a testament to the commitment of President Tinubu’s administration to the development of education in Nigeria.
