Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, is calling on Bola Oyebamiji to champion the establishment of Obokun University if the All Progressives Congress candidate wins the Osun State governorship election. The monarch made this plea during the APC campaign's visit to his palace in Ilesa on Thursday.
"My dream is to have three universities in Ijesaland," Oba Haastrup told Oyebamiji. "Senator Francis Fadahunsi has already started Obokun University, and when you take office, please do whatever you can to make this dream a reality."
The traditional ruler blessed Oyebamiji's electoral prospects, expressing faith that the APC candidate would prioritise development in the Ijesa region. "Your efforts will not go unrewarded," he said.
"God will take you to the promised land, and I'm confident you won't forget Ijesaland because you're surrounded by patriotic Ijesa citizens."
Oyebamiji responded by pledging that his administration would distribute development fairly across Osun State. He rejected the notion of resource concentration in favoured areas.
"We won't deprive you of what's rightfully yours, and we won't deprive other monarchs in Ijesaland either," Oyebamiji said. "Our budget decisions will be driven by what people need, not what we prefer—we won't build bridges where they're not required."
The APC candidate stressed his commitment to transparency and equitable governance. "We won't mislead or deceive anyone," he added.
"Our government won't be run by hypocrisy, and we won't concentrate state resources in one community."
Oyebamiji highlighted infrastructure gaps in Ilesa and surrounding areas. He recalled his involvement in reviewing the Ilesa water project during the Rauf Aregbesola administration.
"By God's grace, we'll execute and complete that water project if elected," he promised.
