Vice President Visits Kaduna State Following Tragic Kidnapping of 287 Pupils and Teachers

Vice President Kashim Shettima visited Kaduna State on Saturday to assess the situation following the tragic kidnapping of 280 school children and teachers of the joint Government Secondary and LEA Primary School in Kuriga, Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

Upon arrival, Shettima was received by the Governor of the State, Uba Sani; the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas; the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman; and other senior government officials.

The Vice President then extended his condolences to the governor and the people of Kaduna State over the devastating incident.

It is important to note that the state government has not hired a private negotiator, nor has it contemplated making such a move.

The denial came in response to a media report that suggested otherwise. The government emphasized that such reports could jeopardize efforts to secure the safe release of the kidnapped children.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning when armed bandits stormed the LEA Primary School, Kuriga, shortly after the assembly gathering and abducted the pupils and some staff members of the schools.

As the nation mourns this tragic event, it is crucial for the government and security operatives to work together to ensure the safe return of the children and their teachers.

The people of Kaduna State and the entire nation stand united in their grief and hope for a swift resolution to this horrific situation.
