Tragic Murder in Adamawa: Gwoza IDP Kills Wife Over Alleged Phone Theft

An internally displaced person (IDP) from Gwoza in Borno State, identified as Ibrahim Abubakar, has been apprehended for the brutal murder of his wife, Hajara Sa’adu, in Adamawa State.

The tragic event unfolded on Monday, April 8, 2024, when the suspect, a butcher by profession and resident of Sabon Gari-Futy, stabbed his wife multiple times with a sharp knife on her back, resulting in her untimely death.

The gruesome act was allegedly triggered by a minor argument over the confiscation of his phone by Hajara Sa’adu.

Following the incident, the suspect was arrested after the father of the deceased reported the matter to the police.

Preliminary investigations led to the discovery of material evidence linking Ibrahim Abubakar to the crime.

The couple, who had been living in Sabon Gari-Futy, had reportedly been facing constant disputes, which the Muslim Council of Girei local government area had attempted to resolve in the past.

In a surprising turn of events, Ibrahim Abubakar made a voluntary confessional statement, expressing deep remorse for killing the mother of their only child.

Police Commissioner Dankombo Morris has expressed his disappointment over the unfortunate incident and assured the public that the command will diligently prosecute the suspect.

The tragic murder has left the local community in shock and mourning as they grapple with the loss of a mother and wife in such a violent manner.
