Tragic Loss: Former SPN Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, Ebunoluwa Famuti, Passes Away at 55

The Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN) mourns the loss of Comrade Ebunoluwa Famuti, a dedicated member and the party’s 2019 Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate in Oyo State.

Famuti, who was also a staff of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Oyo State, passed away at the age of 55. She was laid to rest in her hometown of Uso in Ondo State.

Famuti was an active member of the Democratic Socialist Movement (DSM) and had a strong commitment to the struggle against injustice, as well as a vision for a better society.

Her unwavering support for the SPN was evident in her contributions to the party’s campaign efforts in 2019, where she made her only vehicle available for use at no cost.

Throughout her time with the SPN and the DSM, Famuti participated in numerous activities, including meetings, interventions in workers’ struggles at workplaces and within communities, and the distribution of leaflets and sales of publications like the Socialist Democracy (SD) paper.

Her dedication and passion for promoting socialist ideas were an inspiration to all who knew her.

In a statement released by the SPN, the party expressed their condolences to her family, NULGE, friends, and associates, and called on workers, youths, and masses to join the SPN in accomplishing the task of the socialist transformation of the Nigerian state and economy.

This transformation, they believe, is the only system that can guarantee a better society, a vision that Famuti herself held dear.

As the SPN and the broader community mourn the loss of this dedicated comrade, they are reminded of the importance of continuing the struggle for justice and a better future for all.
