Tragic Loss: Aliko Dangote University Student Found Dead After Exam

Aishat Yahaya Olabisi, a female student at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology in Wudil, Kano State, was found dead in her off-campus accommodation on Thursday, May 4, 2024.
The young lady, who was in her 300-level studying Food and Science Technology, had just completed her first examination of the ongoing first-semester exams.
The university’s management has released a statement addressing the incident and refuting media claims that the student died in the university students’ hostel.
In a clarification dated May 3, 2024, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Abdulkadir Dambazau, stated that Aishat had passed away in her sleep in her off-campus residence.
According to the statement, Aishat spent her last evening diligently preparing for her upcoming exams and had shared a meal with her roommate before expressing her intent to rest briefly.
The following morning, she did not respond to attempts to reach her, prompting an investigation that revealed her untimely passing.
Aishat’s remains were transferred to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for a postmortem analysis to determine the cause of her sudden demise.
Her grieving parents, who hail from Ilorin, arrived the following day to bid farewell to their beloved daughter.
Aishat was laid to rest on April 24, 2024, surrounded by family, friends, and members of the academic community.
The tragic loss of Aishat Yahaya Olabisi has left the university community and her family in mourning.
This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of mental health and the need for support systems for students, particularly during high-pressure periods such as exam season.
