Tinubu’s Tough Policies to Benefit Nigerians, Says Minister

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has unveiled an application called the Mobiliser App for the orientation and re-orientation of Nigerians.

The app, prepared by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), can be accessed by all and has several features.

During a special Ramadan Iftar and interactive session with media executives and practitioners in Kano, the minister acknowledged that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s policies might cause hardships to the citizenry, but they will ultimately place the country in a better position in the near future.

Idris highlighted some of the problems being faced, including insecurity, and called on the media to contribute their quota by not allowing the bandits opportunities to spread their propaganda, thereby making them stronger.

The minister outlined measures by the government to alleviate the hardships, such as the disbursement of N50 billion to food vendors, traders, transport workers, and others under the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme (PCGS) by the Bank of Industry.

Additionally, N75 billion has been set aside for the Federal Government SMSE intervention fund, which will provide single digit interest loans to beneficiaries.

Another N75 billion has been set aside for manufacturers, where a single manufacturer can access up to N1 billion to expand their business and provide jobs for Nigerians.

Furthermore, the Students Loan Scheme’s Act has been passed by the National Assembly.

The Tinubu administration has also set aside a social security system that will provide for those who cannot access any form of employment.

Idris urged media practitioners to be positive in reporting criminal activities in the country and give the government and security operatives an upper hand.

He condemned the attacks on the armed forces by criminal elements, stating that it is an attack on the sovereignty of the country, which will not go unpunished as the culprits will be squeezed out and made to face the wrath of the law.

The minister highlighted the achievements of the armed forces in February 2024 alone, neutralizing 974 terrorists, apprehending 621 suspects, rescuing 466 hostages, and recovering over 1,500 weapons.

In the fight against insecurity, President Tinubu has set aside another N50 billion in what is called the PULACO initiative under the office of the vice president, to be used in infrastructure development in the frontline states affected by terrorism for the construction of schools, hospitals, and other public needs.
