Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as a bold and transformative turnaround of Nigeria in the two years since assuming office, declaring that the country is now firmly on the path to renewed greatness.

In a statement personally signed to mark the second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, Omo-Agege highlighted the President’s decisive actions in tackling long-standing economic and security challenges, stating that the reforms, though tough, were necessary to reset the country on a trajectory of sustainable growth and prosperity.

“Two years ago, our country was on a cliffhanger — burdened by a debilitating debt overhang, crippling and bogus fuel subsidy claims, and an insurgency that made daily life a nightmare,” he said. “But President Tinubu picked up the gauntlet and took the tough decisions that have charted a new course for Nigeria. He has cleaned up the Augean stable and more.”

Omo-Agege noted that Nigeria is beginning to regain its appeal as an investment destination, with the international community and global markets responding positively to Tinubu’s policy reforms.

“It may seem challenging now, but it is just what the doctor ordered to revive a failing system. Investors are returning, and our country is once again being seen as the investment haven it once was,” he stated.

While acknowledging that more work still lies ahead, the former Delta Central senator urged Nigerians to continue supporting the President in completing the process of national renewal.

“I congratulate every Nigerian on the change in fortune for our country. I firmly believe that this government is on the right track and we will arrive at the destination where our country returns to greatness,” he said.

Omo-Agege concluded with a call for unity and patience, stressing that with time and collective support, Tinubu’s administration would deliver on its vision for a prosperous and secure Nigeria.

2ND ANNIVERSARY: PRESIDENT TINUBU SETS NIGERIA ON THE CUSP OF GREATNESS

It is with exhilarating spirit and optimism that today we celebrate the mid-term point of the administration of His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria's President, who took office this day two years ago.

Two years ago, our country was on a cliffhanger, burdened by a debilitating debt overhang, crippling and bogus fuel subsidy claims and insurgency that had made daily living a nightmare.

It is two years since President Tinubu came on the saddle and it has been a great turn around for our country and our people. Our dear President picked up the gauntlet and took the tough decisions that have charted a new trajectory that is bringing Nigeria to the cusp of greatness again. He has cleaned up the Augean stable and more.

I heartily congratulate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the transformation he has brought to the polity and economy. It may seem challenging, but it is just what the doctor needs to revive his patient. The international community and Western economies have applauded the reforms the President introduced and have responded accordingly with investors finding our country the investment haven and destination it used to be.

I also congratulate every Nigerian on the change in fortune for our country. I firmly believe that this government is on the right track and we will arrive at the destination where our country will return to greatness.

Once again, I urge everyone to rally around the President to complete the process. There is still work to be done and he needs time to accomplish what he has started for the common good of all Nigerians.

Signed:

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR

Deputy President of the 9th Senate (2019-2023) and Obarisi of Urhoboland
