Tinubu Meets Edo APC Gubernatorial Candidates, Okpebholo and Idahosa, at Presidential Villa

President Bola Tinubu recently met with the leadership of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The meeting aimed to address some concerns in the state’s political landscape, particularly the controversy surrounding the gubernatorial primary election.

In attendance were the party’s candidate for the 2024 gubernatorial election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and his running mate, Hon Dennis Idahosa.

Also present were key political figures such as the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje; Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole; and former representative of Edo South in the Senate, Matthew Urhoghide.

The primary election that initially declared Okpebholo as the gubernatorial candidate had been a subject of controversy, with Idahosa initially being declared the winner by the Governor Hope Uzodinma-led committee.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party later declared the first round of the primary inconclusive due to several irregularities.

During the meeting with President Tinubu, it was proposed that Idahosa withdraw his protest litigation against Okpebholo’s candidature.

This move would help solidify the party’s unity and focus on the upcoming election.

With the support of influential politicians such as Oshiomhole and Ganduje, the APC aims to address the grey areas in Edo State and present a united front in the gubernatorial race.

The outcome of this meeting and the potential withdrawal of litigation by Idahosa could significantly impact the political dynamics in the state.
