The All Progressives Congress has unveiled a 276-member national campaign council to steer its push for victory in the Osun State governorship election slated for Saturday, August 15, 2026. Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Imo State governor and chairman of the Progressive Governors' Forum, will lead the council.
The party's national secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, disclosed this in a notice shared on the APC's X handle on Sunday. Uzodimma will be joined by three co-chairmen: Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas.
Ibrahim Kabir Masari, the senior special assistant to the president on political matters, takes the deputy chairman position. Senator Barau I.
Jibrin, the deputy president of the senate, serves as secretary of the council.
The council draws together governors, national working committee members, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state legislators, and other key party stakeholders across the country. It aims to coordinate a unified campaign drive towards electoral success.
To ensure coordinated and effective campaign execution, the APC has established specialized subcommittees handling diverse functions. These include election planning and management; finance and resource mobilization; contact and grassroots engagement; logistics; monitoring and compliance; protocol; media and publicity; security; youth mobilization; and women's mobilization.
The party also created a subcommittee dedicated to special interest mobilization focused on persons with disabilities, alongside a secretariat functions unit. The inaugural meeting of the national campaign council and its subcommittees is scheduled for Tuesday.
