Tinubu Inaugurates Africa’s Largest Tomato Processing Plant in Kebbi

President Bola Tinubu inaugurated the GB Foods Tomato Processing Company in Gafara village, Ngaski Local Government Area of Kebbi on Friday.

The plant, which is the largest of its kind in Africa, processes 2,400 metric tons of tomatoes per day.

Represented by Sen. Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing a conducive environment for private investors to operate in the country.

This commitment is evident in the planned expansion of the processing facility by the factory’s management.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Muhammad Idris, emphasized the president’s investment in agricultural development and the creation of an enabling environment for investors to contribute to national food security.

He commended the company for its belief in Nigeria and assured that the president would provide the necessary support and encouragement to the factory.

The establishment of the company and its sustainability is a testament to the political collaboration between the Federal Government and the Kebbi Government, aimed at improving agricultural production, food security, and wealth creation.

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi thanked Spain for its investment in the agricultural sector and assured that the state government would remain hospitable to all investors, providing the necessary enabling environment for businesses.

He requested that the company process its end products in the state without referral to Lagos State for processing.

In his remarks, the Spanish ambassador to Nigeria reiterated Spain’s commitment to partnering with Nigeria in various sectors of the economy, despite the challenges the country faces.

This significant development in Nigeria’s food science and agriculture sector is a step forward in achieving national food security and fostering private investment in the country.
