President Bola Tinubu has picked Adedayo Laniyi to lead the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development. The appointment runs for four years starting April 18, 2026.

Tinubu also approved members of the centre's Governing Council. Joan Idonije will chair the board, according to George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Akume announced the decision in line with the National Centre for Women Development Act of 2023. The move follows proper constitutional procedures for such appointments.

Five individuals join Idonije on the council. They are Lois Auta, Jamila Sarki, Aisha Baiyee, Jumoke Mathematics, and Anne Agom-Eze.
