Sowore Criticizes Obaseki’s Hotel Project in Edo State: Neglecting Student’s Hostel

Rights activist and convener of RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, has criticized Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State for prioritizing a hotel project over the construction of a student’s hostel.

During an inspection of the hotel project on Tuesday, Governor Obaseki mentioned that a 170-room “Edo Radisson Hotel” is being built and is expected to be completed by November 2024.

However, Sowore pointed out that the Governor has not constructed a 1,700-room student’s hostel throughout his 8-year tenure.

Sowore took to X to express his disappointment, stating, “Here is Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, inspecting a 170-room ‘Edo Radisson Hotel’ threatening that it must be completed by November 2024, makes me wonder why his likes never built a 1,700-room students’ hostel throughout his 8-year tenure looking precisely like these hotel rooms. Wicked People!”

The criticism has sparked debate on the importance of education and infrastructure in the state, with many questioning the Governor’s priorities.

The issue highlights the need for a balance between development and the needs of the community.

As the deadline for the hotel’s completion approaches, it remains to be seen how the government will address the concerns raised by Sowore and others.
