Sokoto State Government to Allocate N6.7 Billion for Ramadan Feeding Programme

To provide assistance and support to the less fortunate during the holy month of Ramadan, the Sokoto State government has announced that it will allocate N6.7 billion for its Ramadan feeding program.

The program includes the distribution of grains and the provision of meals at feeding centers, with a focus on reaching orphans and the destitute across the state.

Governor Ahmed Aliyu made the announcement on Monday, March 11, 2024, during the flag-off of grain distribution to 18,400 orphans and the destitute.

Each of these individuals will receive bags of rice and millet, along with N5000 cash to help them during the month of fasting and spiritual reflection.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, expressed his gratitude to the state government for continuing the Ramadan feeding program.

He also pledged his support for Governor Aliyu’s efforts to improve the living conditions of the people in Sokoto State.

The monarch emphasized the importance of compassion and urged wealthy individuals to assist those in need.

The Ramadan feeding program is a significant initiative by the Sokoto State government to address the issue of hunger and poverty among the most vulnerable members of society.

By providing food and financial assistance during the holy month, the government aims to alleviate the suffering of the poor and ensure that they can observe Ramadan with dignity and peace of mind.

As the program unfolds, it is crucial for the state government to ensure that the allocated funds are utilized effectively and transparently.

The success of the initiative will not only provide much-needed relief to the less fortunate but also demonstrate the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.
