Shehu Sani Reacts to Size of President Tinubu’s Delegation to Qatar

Former Senator Shehu Sani has shared his thoughts on the size of President Bola Tinubu’s delegation to Qatar for a business and investment meeting scheduled for March 2 and 3, 2024.

The President, who will be accompanied by 38 others, including his sons, has drawn the attention of the former lawmaker to his earlier promise of limiting the number of officials in his entourage to no more than 20.

In a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, Shehu Sani reminded President Tinubu of his commitment to cost-cutting measures, which include reducing the size of delegations for both local and international travels.

He also suggested that the presidency should later clarify that some aides traveled to Qatar on their own.

The President recently approved a directive to cut travel expenses by 60% for the Offices of the President, Vice President, First Lady, Wife of the Vice President, and all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

This measure applies to both local and international trips.

For international trips, President Tinubu has directed that no more than 20 individuals be allowed to travel with him.

The number will be reduced to five in the case of the First Lady.

The Vice President’s entourage on official international trips will also be limited to five, as will the number of people accompanying the Vice President’s wife.

As the President embarks on this important trip to Qatar, it remains to be seen how these cost-cutting measures will be implemented and how they will impact the overall efficiency of the government’s operations.
