Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, the Ungogo Local Government chairman in Kano, has shut Al-Hadeed Private School indefinitely.
A teacher at the institution, identified as Uncle Kamal, faces serious charges. He stands accused of sexually abusing four young pupils.
A magistrate's court ordered his remand following Monday's arraignment. The alleged victims are three children aged seven and one child aged five.
Bilyaminu told reporters the closure protects the victims and ensures justice prevails. According to him, the suspect must face the full extent of the law.
Medical doctors have already confirmed the children suffered sexual assault, prosecution counsel Badamasi Gandu revealed in court. He presented their findings as crucial evidence during the proceedings.
The local government chairman emphasized his administration's commitment to child protection. He warned that violators will face severe punishment without exception.
Kamal now sits in a correctional facility awaiting trial. His case resumes on June 6 for further hearing.
