Senator Solomon Adeola has won the APC's governorship primary in Ogun State. The election took place on Thursday across all 20 local government areas.

Wale Ohu, who chaired the electoral committee, announced the results at the conclusion of voting. Adeola secured 304,055 votes from 305,287 accredited participants.

His sole rival, Abayomi Samako Hunye, received no votes in the contest. Ohu declared Adeola the party's official governorship candidate for 2027.

Results will now go to the APC's National Working Committee for formal approval. Party officials said the process was transparent throughout.

Speaking after the announcement, Adeola thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for guidance. He credited the president with shaping his political journey over 24 years.

According to him, Tinubu supported his rise from Lagos State House to the Senate. He's currently serving his third term representing Ogun West.

Former Governor Olusegun Osoba also received his appreciation. So did incumbent Governor Dapo Abiodun, who facilitated his emergence as consensus candidate.

Adeola praised APC leaders for ensuring a peaceful primary process. He said the outcome demonstrated party unity and maturity.

"Our goal is to build on the remarkable achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun and move Ogun State to a higher level of inclusive growth, infrastructure development, economic prosperity and people-oriented governance," he told reporters.

The senator promised not to waste the confidence shown in him. He vowed to maintain momentum on the governor's development agenda.

Governor Abiodun expressed satisfaction with how smoothly the primary unfolded. He noted that consensus had been reached in most contests.

"We must thank God for the peaceful way we have conducted our affairs so far. Other states are struggling to achieve what we accomplished seamlessly," Abiodun remarked.

He commended party members who prioritized group interests over personal ambitions. Without such sacrifice, he said, success would've been impossible.

Party stakeholders attributed the smooth primary to strong leadership. Sources within the APC credited careful coordination among top officials.

Adeola's emergence sets the stage for campaign activities ahead. Political observers expect him to face opposition candidates from other parties in 2027.

His victory consolidates control within Ogun APC structures. Analysts say it reflects confidence in his electability among party gatekeepers.
