Senator Jimoh Ibrahim Criticizes Governor Aiyedatiwa: ‘A Joker Who Has Never Won an Election’

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South Constituency in the National Assembly, has recently criticized Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, calling him a “joker” who has never won an election.

Ibrahim’s remarks come in response to Aiyedatiwa’s statement that there is no vacancy at the Government House in Akure, following his pre-primary screening at the APC National Secretariat.

Governor Aiyedatiwa assumed office in December 2023 after the death of his predecessor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

He expressed confidence in his ability to retain his position and urged his co-aspirants to support him in his bid for re-election.

However, his comments have not been well-received by other political figures in the state.

Senator Ibrahim dismissed Aiyedatiwa’s remarks as a joke, emphasizing that the governor has never won an election and that his tenure will end after the primary elections.

He believes that the governor’s statement undermines the democratic process and that the people of Ondo State will ultimately determine the outcome of the primary.

Another aspirant, Olusola Oke, echoed Ibrahim’s sentiments, stating that Aiyedatiwa’s comments are a ploy to undermine the democratic process.

He pointed out that there is no vacancy until February of next year, when Aiyedatiwa’s one-year term will be exhausted.

The political landscape in Ondo State is heating up as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its primary election on April 20, 2024.

Aiyedatiwa will face stiff competition from several high-profile candidates, including Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and Olusola Oke.

The outcome of the primary will determine who will represent the APC in the November 16, 2024 gubernatorial election.

As the race for the Ondo State governorship intensifies, the public is eagerly waiting to see if Governor Aiyedatiwa can prove his critics wrong and secure his position or if a new candidate will emerge as the APC’s flagbearer.
