Senator Akpabio: 10th National Assembly to Improve Nigerian Living Standards

Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, expressed that the legislative agenda of the 10th National Assembly will bring about a significant improvement in the standard of living for Nigerian citizens.

The statement was made during a Public Hearing of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tetfund and House of Representatives Committee on Students Loan, Scholarship, and Higher Education Financing on the Student Loan (Access to Higher Education) repeal and reenactment Bill 2024.

Senator Akpabio emphasized the importance of the hearing, stating that the opinions of all stakeholders would be considered in order to create the best possible legislation.

He also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for the students of the country through the loan scheme, which will address the issue of inadequate funding among Nigerian students.

The President of the Senate praised President Tinubu’s foresight and passion for supporting the students, saying that the implementation of the legislative agenda will result in a significant improvement in the living conditions of the citizenry.

He also highlighted the significance of public hearings as a primary legislative process that allows the general public and stakeholders to contribute to lawmaking.

The Joint Public Hearing, held in Abuja, focused on the Student Loan (Access to Higher Education) repeal and reenactment Bill 2024.

Senator Akpabio called on the attendees to express their views and opinions freely, whether for or against the subject of the hearing, to help the committee make an informed recommendation to the Senate and House of Representatives.

The 10th National Assembly is working towards enhancing the standard of living for Nigerians through its legislative agenda.

With the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the input of stakeholders, the Student Loan (Access to Higher Education) repeal and reenactment Bill 2024 has the potential to address the challenges faced by Nigerian students in terms of funding and access to higher education.
