Security Guard Nabbed by Osun Amotekun Over Alleged Theft of Air Conditioners

The Osun State command of the Amotekun Corps recently apprehended a 25-year-old private security guard, Michael Eze, for allegedly stealing nine air conditioners in Osogbo.

The suspect, who hails from Ebonyi State, was arrested on Monday after the owners of the house he was guarding in the Government Reserved Area (GRA) of Osogbo reported the theft to the Amotekun Corps.

Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), the corps Commander, disclosed that the suspect sold the stolen air conditioners, valued at N400,000 each, to scrap buyers in Osogbo for just N5,000 per unit.

He also confessed that it was not his first time stealing from his employer.

Two of the stolen air conditioners were later found in the possession of their buyers, and the suspect has been handed over to the Director of State Security Service for further questioning and legal action.

Commander Adewinmbi emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and security forces to combat crime and criminal activities in the state.

He urged the public to share valuable information with security forces to prevent crime before it occurs.

The incident highlights the growing issue of theft in the state and the need for continued vigilance and cooperation among the public and security agencies to ensure the safety and security of the community.
