Military personnel under Operation ENDURING PEACE have stopped several kidnapping plots and freed victims across Plateau and Kaduna in the past two days.
The operations have also sparked active searches for criminals who managed to escape, according to the armed forces.
Polycarp Oteh, the Joint Task Force's spokesman, released the information on Sunday in Jos to waiting journalists.
Officials say the successful rescues show how serious the military is about protecting people and keeping roads safe.
In Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, soldiers from Sector 6 rushed to the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sayin highway around 12:30am on June 5, 2026.
They found an ash-colored Honda vehicle abandoned right in the middle of the road. Its registration plate read APP-93CF.
What happened next was swift and decisive. Troops searched the thick bushes nearby and brought out six abducted passengers to safety.
According to their account, the victims had boarded the vehicle in Lafia, Nasarawa State, heading to Jos. The driver's whereabouts remain unknown at this time.
Separately, soldiers working in Bokkos Local Government Area received a distress call from Faggem Village about another abduction in progress.
The troops moved fast and forced the attackers back into the forest. A pastor and his wife were freed from the kidnappers' grip.
Both victims had been injured during the assault, military officials noted. They were taken to Bokkos Medical Clinic for urgent care.
Troops have launched pursuit operations to catch the suspects and stop more attacks in that region.
A third incident happened in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, near Ungwan Gora in the Sector 7 zone.
Soldiers received reports that suspected terrorists had blocked the road between Rafi Tagwai and Angwan Dariya, according to officials.
When the troops arrived, gunmen had already taken some people from a commercial vehicle. Two injured passengers remained near the scene.
Eight empty shell casings of 7.62mm ammunition were recovered at the location. Both injured persons were rushed to Fadan Karshi District hospital.
Military personnel continue searching for the passengers still missing from that attack. Operations to track down the remaining suspects are ongoing.
