Saudi Arabia's Madinah Health Cluster is rolling out smart watches to track pilgrims with heart conditions during the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.

The wearable devices monitor heart rate, ECG readings, and blood oxygen levels in real time. Data streams directly to medical teams stationed in virtual clinics and digital monitoring rooms.

Health officials say the technology lets patients worship without interruption while staying under constant medical watch. Doctors can spot dangerous changes instantly and respond as needed.

The programme, called "Rafiq Rihltak Bil-Hajj," is a partnership between Madinah Health Cluster and Seha Virtual Hospital. It's part of Saudi Arabia's push to strengthen pilgrimage healthcare using cutting-edge digital tools.

According to authorities, the smart watches improve medical care, speed up emergency response, and boost patient safety. Millions of pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia each year for Hajj, making such innovations crucial.

Saudi officials noted the initiative reflects the kingdom's commitment to leveraging technology in healthcare delivery. The 2026 Hajj season will be the first major test of this nationwide monitoring system.
