Sapele-Okpe community election was free and fair -Dafinone

The Chairman of Sapele-Okpe community Land Trust Association and Chairman of Sapele-Okpe election committee in Delta State, Chief Ede Dafinone have congratulated Mr Patrick Akamovba on his election as the new chairman of Sapele-Okpe community.

Chief Dafinone who was speaking to Newsmen after conducting the Sapele Okpe Community elections that has taken 8 years of litigation which has annually brought in interim committee to oversee the affairs of the community said, “electing a long time executives can only bring a united Community that will now support the indigenes of the community for the development of their sons and daughters.

He noted that with the successful and peaceful election the Sapele-Okpe will emerge as a united and one of the prosperous communities within Delta State.

While rejoicing with Mr Akamovba, Edafinone noted, “the faction that took us to court was here to participate though not all of them, but a significant number of them came here to participate.”

“The election was declared two weeks ago, the candidates filled applications forms, they were screened. The election today was free, fair and transparent. There was no protest from any of the agents that witnessed the counting, no protest from any of the candidates, no protest from the people who casted their votes.”

However the new chairman of Sapele Okpe Community, Mr Patrick Akamovba has called on all warring parties in the community to see his election as the dawn of a new era and therefore urged all stakeholders to embrace and work with his executive.

“This is a new dawn in the community. So many things happen before the election and after the election we are all here as one united family. I have no enemies because what happened today is destined by God.  We are going to do the job the way it should be done. If you see anything coming, feel free to tell me, our elders and our chief will get hundred percent of my attention,” he added.

Chief William Ayomanor, a prominent Sapele-Okpe community leader urged the Chairman, Akamovba to carry everyone along, accept everyone whether they voted for him or not and that all those elected should work with the Chairman in harmony.

Others elected include Chief Onoriode Temiagin (Vice Chairman); Freeborn Ogodo (Secretary); Ufuoma Atose  (Assistant Secretary); French Ayomanor (Spokesman); Churchill Ayomanor (Financial Secretary); Ogbogbo Monday (Treasurer); Julius Ogodo (PRO) and Arusuine Akoko (Assistant PRO).
