Brazilian icon Ronaldo Nazario has pointed the finger at Carlo Ancelotti after Brazil crashed out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Norway sent the South Americans packing in the Round of 16 on Sunday, with Erling Haaland scoring twice in a 2-1 victory.
Ronaldo didn't hold back in his criticism of the Italian manager's tactical decisions during the defeat. "I think this elimination started with decisions made on the coaching bench," he told Diario AS.
The former striker acknowledged Ancelotti's credentials but felt the coach got his game plan badly wrong. "Ancelotti is one of the best coaches in football history, but tonight he made too many mistakes," Ronaldo said.
He questioned why João Pedro didn't make the squad, insisting the player has been in exceptional form. "I still don't understand why João Pedro was not in the squad – he's been performing brilliantly," he added.
Ronaldo also took issue with how little game time Endrick received throughout the tournament. "Look at Endrick, every time he's played in this FIFA World Cup, he's brought energy, aggression, and unpredictability, but he has spent most of the time on the bench," he said.
The legendary forward expressed his bewilderment at these tactical choices. "I can't comprehend it," Ronaldo concluded, making clear his frustration with how the Real Madrid manager handled his squad.
