Brazilian legend Romario has crowned France as the world's best team right now. Speaking on RMC Sport, the 60-year-old placed the French ahead of his own country and all others.
Romario praised Brazil's showing at the tournament so far. He noted their recent improvements in performance.
"I was delighted to play in the 1994 World Cup in America," he told the sports broadcaster. "That was three decades ago, and returning here excites me greatly."
According to him, France's displays have genuinely impressed him most. "In my view, they're currently football's finest team," he added.
Both nations have advanced to the Round of 32 stage. Romario's assessment comes as an endorsement few expected from a Brazilian icon.
