Rivers APC Accuses Governor Fubara of Misusing State Funds

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Siminialayi Fubara of spending state funds frivolously, describing his administration as “visionless.”

In a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the state’s APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, claimed that Governor Fubara was spending money on unnecessary thanksgiving events in local government areas instead of focusing on the development of the state.

Okocha criticized the governor for not consolidating on the road plans of his predecessors and failing to initiate any new road projects in the state, apart from the ring road initiated by former Governor Nyesom Wike.

He argued that the governor was out of touch with the road plans and was not contributing to good governance for Rivers people.

The APC Chairman also addressed the issue of economic hardship in the country, stating that it was a global phenomenon and not a result of leadership failure.

He praised President Bola Tinubu for removing the fuel subsidy, which he described as “anti-people,” and for adding the funds to the states’ allocations to cushion the effect of hardship.

Okocha called on Governor Fubara to conduct local government elections as required by the constitution, to constitute the State Executive Council, and not to run the state single-handedly without the State Assembly, as the APC has a majority in the Assembly.

The accusations by the Rivers State APC highlight the growing concerns over Governor Fubara’s governance and the need for transparency and accountability in the use of state funds.

The situation also underscores the importance of political stability in the state and the need for the governor to focus on the development and welfare of Rivers people.
