In a major push to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in Delta North, Senator Ned Nwoko has initiated a series of transformative development projects, with a key focus on road construction in the Idumuje-Ugboko community.
A major highlight of this initiative is the one-kilometer Ugbobi-Uzebu Road, a crucial link that promises to revitalize local mobility, boost economic activities, and improve access to essential services for residents and businesses alike.
The road, stretching from Ugbobi Primary School to the Uzebu axis, has long been plagued by poor conditions and seasonal flooding, hampering the movement of people, goods, and emergency services. Recognizing this challenge, Senator Nwoko has championed its rehabilitation, ensuring that the community benefits from modern, durable infrastructure.
The project is being executed in two phases. The first section, from Palace Junction to Uzebu axis, is already progressing smoothly, with plans to extend the road further to connect key community hubs, including educational and healthcare facilities.
Speaking to reporters during an inspection tour, Dr. Michael Nwoko, the Senator’s Chief of Staff, reiterated the commitment to quality and timely delivery. “This road is a game-changer for the Idumuje-Ugboko community. It is part of Senator Nwoko’s broader vision to drive substantial infrastructure development across Delta North,” he said.
He further assured that the contractors were aligned with the Senator’s high standards. “We are closely monitoring progress, making unscheduled visits to ensure quality work. The road will be completed soon, and it will significantly improve access to farmlands and community resources.”
As part of the larger infrastructure initiative, solar-powered streetlights have also been installed in key areas, including Ogbuobi, Atuma, and Ogbuofu, enhancing security and nighttime mobility.
Abdurahim Sulaiman, the project contractor from Al-Kibad Group, confirmed that despite initial equipment setbacks, all necessary resources have been mobilized for timely completion. “We are fully committed to delivering a high-quality road that meets the expectations of the community,” he stated.
Local residents, who have endured years of hardship due to the deteriorated road, expressed their gratitude for the Senator’s intervention.
“For over 15 years, this road has been a nightmare,” said Mr. Debia Christian, a longtime resident. “Senator Nwoko’s initiative isn’t just about road construction—it’s about giving us better access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities. We are truly grateful.”
Another resident, Mr. Agbamuche Elozien, highlighted the economic relief the road would bring. “Before, transporting goods to the market was a struggle. Now, with this new road, everything will be easier. We appreciate Senator Nwoko’s dedication to our community.”
With the final phases nearing completion, the Idumuje-Ugboko community eagerly anticipates the long-awaited transformation. Senator Nwoko’s commitment to infrastructure development continues to bring tangible progress, strengthening connectivity and improving livelihoods across Delta North.
