Vladimir Putin believes the Ukraine conflict is nearing its end. The Russian president made the remarks over the weekend during Moscow's Victory Day observance.
Speaking on the sidelines of the anniversary event, Putin suggested hostilities could wrap up soon. He's responded positively to reports that Zelensky wants a face-to-face meeting.
"We have never refused," Putin stated flatly. "Whoever wants to meet, let them come to Moscow," he added.
Putin blamed Western powers for prolonging the fighting through Ukraine. He claimed the "globalist wing of Western elites" expected Russia's collapse within months.
That hasn't materialised, the Kremlin leader insisted. "They got stuck in this rut and now they can't get out of it," he said.
On a separate matter, Putin disclosed Russia had offered to store Iran's enriched uranium. Washington later hardened its stance after initial agreement on the proposal, he noted.
Moscow and Beijing are preparing major moves in energy cooperation, Putin revealed. Both nations intend to deepen economic ties through new gas and oil arrangements.
Foreign leaders who travelled to Moscow for Victory Day showed real courage, Putin remarked. Their attendance at the commemoration impressed him significantly.
