Donald Duke satisfied every requirement to fly the Peoples Redemption Party flag in 2027, the party's national chairman said on Thursday.

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during an appearance on Arise Television's morning programme.

Duke, the former Cross River governor, applied for membership like all other aspirants, he noted. The ex-governor went through every step of the selection process without exception.

A consensus meeting brought together three southern candidates from different parties, Baba-Ahmed explained. This gathering was a mandatory requirement under party rules.

Duke joined the meeting online while travelling outside Nigeria. He participated fully and the other candidates agreed to his involvement.

"Being physically absent doesn't violate any rule or regulation," Baba-Ahmed told the television audience. According to him, Duke completed all obligations expected of any PRP presidential hopeful.

The national chairman stressed that other contestants accepted Duke's arrangement as well. His online participation satisfied the party's standards for the consensus process.
