President Bola Tinubu has described as barbaric the killing of a teacher abducted from Esiele community in Oyo State. He vowed that security forces are working around the clock to rescue remaining captives.

Bandits attacked the community in Oriire Local Government Area last Friday. They seized staff and students from three schools: Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A.

Primary School.

Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, released a statement detailing the attack. He said operatives are pursuing the gunmen and their local accomplices.

Tinubu expressed deep sadness over the teacher's death. He told Governor Seyi Makinde and Oyo residents that the federal government stands with them.

"I sympathise with Governor Seyi Makinde and commend the steps he has taken," the President said. "I sympathise with the families of the kidnapped victims."

Tinubu praised the Inspector-General of Police and state commissioners. He noted their swift response and deployment of tactical teams to the affected areas.

According to him, the IGP is personally overseeing the operation. "We expect a breakthrough soon," Tinubu added, promising swift justice for those involved.

He made clear that bandits and their collaborators would face the full force of the law. No mercy will be shown to anyone aiding criminals, he warned.

Tinubu used the opportunity to push for state police creation. He believes local forces could better protect underserved communities across the country.

The President urged the National Assembly to expedite passage of the state police bill. He stressed that the current security challenges make this reform necessary.

Tinubu assured families of the kidnapped victims that rescue efforts continue. Federal and state authorities are working together on the operation, he said.

Security sources confirm that intelligence teams are actively pursuing the abductors. Officials expect developments in the coming days.
