President Tinubu Inaugurates Agro Zone, Renames Minna Airport

The state government has renamed the Minna International Airport after President Ahmed Bola Tinubu. The airport, formerly known as Dr. Abubakar Imam International Airport, has now been christened the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport.

This announcement came ahead of President Tinubu’s visit to Niger State today, March 11, 2024, where he is scheduled to officially flag off the Agricultural Revolution Project, commission the Minna Airport, and lay the foundation of the Hajj Terminal.

During a press briefing held by Niger State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategies, Hon. Binta Mamman, on March 10, 2024, it was revealed that President Tinubu would be engaging in several activities during his visit.

These include a guided tour of the facilities at the remodelled airport terminal, the inauguration of the 5,000 pieces of agricultural equipment procured by the state government, and the laying of the foundation for the Hajji terminal at the airport before returning to Abuja.

Hon. Mamman emphasized that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the success of the program and highlighted that the projects to be commissioned by the President were completed within just nine months of the Mohammed Umar Bago administration.

The newly renamed airport is expected to serve as an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja and will also function as a Cargo Airport.

The state government has also procured numerous pieces of agriculture mechanized equipment for the agro-processing free zone, which will showcase Niger State as a leading agricultural state in the country.

The Agricultural Revolution Project is set to revolutionize the state’s agricultural sector, bringing about significant advancements in farming practices and improved productivity.

President Tinubu’s visit to Niger State is a significant milestone in the state’s development, and the renaming of the Minna International Airport is a testament to the strong relationship between the President and the Niger State government.

With the inauguration of the agro zone and the foundation laying for the Hajj Terminal, Niger State is poised to become a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria, and the state’s economy is expected to benefit greatly from these developments.
