President Tinubu Congratulates Dr. Akinwumi Adesina on Prestigious Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership

President Bola Tinubu has recently congratulated Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), on being awarded the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership.

This esteemed recognition places Dr. Adesina among other notable past recipients such as Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka; former President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki; and lawyer-educationist, Chief Afe Babalola.

President Tinubu commended Dr. Adesina for his visionary approach and noble efforts in transforming agriculture in Africa and ensuring food security on the continent.

The President specifically highlighted the Growth Enhancement Schemes, which have revolutionized Nigeria’s agriculture value chains, as a testament to Dr. Adesina’s leadership during his tenure as the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Acknowledging Dr. Adesina’s unblemished records, tried and tested integrity, and immense leadership and development strides in the agricultural sector, President Tinubu emphasized the global recognition Dr. Adesina has garnered, including the World Food Prize in 2017.

President Tinubu wished Dr. Adesina continued success in his role at the AfDB and strength in his service to Africa and to humanity at large.

This recognition and praise from the President of Nigeria is a testament to the significant impact Dr. Adesina has made in the agricultural sector and his dedication to the betterment of Africa as a whole.
